About Keepers Cottage - Self Catering Cottage Holidays


Keepers Cottage is a recently renovated 18th century cottage nestling in the peaceful backwaters of Prestwood , with dramatic views of the Weaver Hills. This 4 Star Gold cottage has original features including an oak panelled bedroom with an original four poster bed, exposed stone walls, genuine oak and pine doors, all have been blended with the necessary modern appliances you would expect in quality self catering accommodation. The Cottage has a fabulous atmosphere, with a log burning stove for those cooler evenings, and has a 4 Star Gold rating.

The most noise you are likely to encounter is from the local sheep or small herd of Irish Moile cattle which you will find in the field next to the large garden. If relaxation is the name of the game, then Keeper's Cottage is for you.

Accommodation includes:
Ground Floor:
an entrance hall, kitchen, living room and oak panelled bedroom with four poster bed and adjacent shower/W.C room.

First Floor:
is reached by a small twisting stone stairway leading to a twin/double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

The large garden has an arboured patio, and room to enjoy BBQ’s.In the main House garden there
the chance to play a fun game of grass tennis or croquet. Parking is outside the property at the end of your private drive.

The cottage is suitable for couples or family holidays, with Alton Towers just 3 miles away, Dovedale a mere 8 miles and the stately homes of Chatsworth, Haddon and Sudbury all within easy reach. The potteries with their factory shops are only 25 minutes away.

Churnet Valley Railway - From Kingsley and Froghall via Consall, and Chedlington to Leekbrook, the railway offers a delightful 10 1/2 mile journey. Visit the main centre and view the locomotives and learn al about the age of steam in their museum

Alton Towers - A great day out for all the family and for those with an adventurous heart

Staffordshire Moorlands - The Staffordshire Moorlands contains and large proportion of the 'white peak' area of the Peak District. It includes one half of Dovedale, the Manifold Valley including Thor's Cave, Wetton Mill, Longnor and Butterton.

The Staffordshire Moorlands is also home to the highest village in Britain, Flash as well as being an area of forests, lakes, crags and extensive moorland. A fabulous place to visit, walk and explore.

The Roaches - The Roaches, with Hen Cloud and Ramshaw Rocks, form a gritstone escarpment on the south-western edge of the Peak District. THe leek road offers best viewing of the cliff faces as they stand as a long linear barrier or gateway to the Peak District, their fantastic shapes worn by the elements.

Our Facilities

We now offer cycle hire. Cycle the Churnet Valley trail and discover the hidden charm of this picturesque landscape, a setting rich in history and natural beauty. It is advisable to pre-book cycle hire.

Next to a Victorian summer house we have facilities for tennis, croquet and barbeques.

Manor House Farm is an ideal centre for exploring the tranquil valleys of the Dove, Churnet and Manifold, or visiting Alton Towers (2 miles away), Sudbury Hall (6 miles), Shugborough Hall, Haddon Hall, Chatsworth and the Pottery shops and museums of Stoke-on-Trent. Close by are the historic market towns of Ashbourne and Uttoxeter. The farm also a good base for golf, swimming, cycling and pony trekking.
