The East Greystone Holiday Farm Cottages: Hayloft, Bothy and Stable Cottages are self catering holiday cottages on the outskirts of Gainford, near Darlington, County Durham. These charming cottages are created from delightful stone barn conversions. Original features and stylish, modern finishes are tastefully combined to ensure your stay is both comfortable and luxurious.

Traditional arches and original beams have been retained giving the holiday cottages a charming rustic feel. With garden furniture and BBQ, the patio overlooking the Goose Pond and summerhouse is ideal for early evening outdoor entertaining or just catch the late afternoon sun.

Delightfully situated in the foothills of the glorious rolling Teesdale countryside in County Durham, our holiday cottages are perfect for a romantic break, a family holiday or as a country retreat for the discerning business traveller. All you need to relax and make the most of your time away from home.


THE HAYLOFT - Sleeps 2
A luxury romantic retreat. This five star Hayloft is full of character with its exposed beams and wooden floors, providing an ideal romantic getaway.

This delightful Grade II Listed Building has been tastefully restored to provide spacious, high quality accommodation with charm and character.

There is an open plan sitting/dining area with fully equipped stylish kitchen, a wooden staircase leads to mezzanine style bedroom with a super king bed or two single beds from which you can enjoy lovely unspoilt views of the surrounding countryside.

The luxury groundfloor bathroom has a double ended bath, overhead shower, soft fluffy bathrobes and heated towel rail to provide the ultimate relaxation after a busy day sightseeing.

The Hayloft has it’s own secluded garden with patio area, seating and BBQ.

STABLE COTTAGE- Sleeps 4
A family friendly two bedroom cottage with a large open plan sitting and dining area and superb views of the surrounding countryside. High beamed ceilings give a feeling of space, whilst the cast iron log effect stove brings warmth into the room, providing the ideal way to unwind and enjoy the view.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and leads to the large bathroom, which is light and spacious, with a walk in shower, shaver point and finished with large slate tiles. The second bedroom enjoying open rural views, provides either a 5″ double or 2″6 twin beds. The bathroom is accessible independently from both bedrooms.

Throughout elegant touches have been achieved by investment in quality furnishings and finishes, the overall aim being one of comfortable country life.

BOTHY COTTAGE - Sleeps 2
A lovely renovated cosy one bedroom cottage with rustic appeal and stunning views for you to relax and enjoy. The combined sitting, dining and kitchen areas form one large barn room. High, beamed ceilings give a feeling of space, whilst the cast-iron log-effect stove draws warmth into the room. Wooden floors further enhance the living area.

A good selection of books, board games, CD’s and DVD’s ensure that you will never be bored whatever the weather. A well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar provides the latest modern appliances and the overall feel is one of stylish practicality.

The double bedroom has a wonderful solid pine bed and leads to an en suite bathroom which is light, spacious and tastefully finished with large slate tiles, over bath shower and shaver point. Throughout elegant touches have been achieved by investment in quality furnishings and finishes, the overall aim being one of comfortable country life.

With the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, East Coast and cities of Durham, Newcastle and York all within easy driving distance, this is an ideal base from which to visit the sights of North East England.

Spectacular waterfalls, sweeping moorlands, magnificent castles and ancient market towns are all to be found in Teesdale.

Nearby bridleways, footpaths, riverside walks, golf and fishing provide ample entertainment and opportunity to explore the countryside.

Within one mile the villages of Piercebridge and Gainford provide friendly local services including newsagents, general stores, Laurel’s Cafe, butcher, post office, hairdresser, ‘Chippie’, organic farm shop, doctors surgery and three churches.
