Places To Visit

An extraordinary place with an open beauty far removed from the hustle and bustle of modern life, the Fens are like a breath of fresh air. There’s nowhere quite like Fenland with it’s unique landscape, history and culture. We are situated on the edge of a small village 3 miles from the fine town of Wisbech.

Wisbech, the capital of the Fens has many fine buildings. The North and South Brinks, the Crescent and Museum Square are amongst the finest examples of Georgian Street architecture in the country.

Wisbech and the Fens have a great deal to offer visitors in addition to the outstanding architecture the area is rich in historical connections stretching back to the Roman times through such well known figures as Oliver Cromwell, Hereward the Wake and King John, who lost his baggage train along with a Kings fortune near Wisbech in 1216.

Visitor attractions include Peckover House and Gardens ( NT ), Octavia Hill Museum, Elgoods Brewery, Gardens and Maze, and the Angles Theatre one of the oldest surviving Georgian Theatres in the country.

Also within easy reach is historic Ely, Cambridge, Newmarket, Peterborough, Kings Lynn, Stamford, the Norfolk coast with it’s Seaside resorts of Hunstanton, Wells and Cromer.

Stately Homes include Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall, Oxborough Hall, Burghley House and Sandringham House with it’s fine gardens and parklands.

Leisure activities include excellent fishing either in drains, rivers or lakes.
Golfing, cycling, Micro Light and Parachute centre. Bird watching at Welney or at the R. S. P. B. Centre at the Ouse Washes.

The village boasts public houses serving excellent food and ale, Post Office with General stores, Off Licence and Fish and Chip Shop.
