About Marchburn - Self Catering Cottage Holidays

Marchburn is a traditional country cottage nestled in the heart of Glen Clova which is one of the most beautiful glens in Angus, Scotland. It is set in an acre and a half of our own grounds with the March Burn bordering the northern boundary. Marchburn offers, complete escapism and relaxation from the ‘hurly burly’ of everyday life for everyone with all types of interests.

The cottage was originally built as a roadsmens cottage, to house the men building the road around the glen and looks very much like a crofters cottage. The cottage is our family holiday home and offers extremely comfortable accommodation. There are two twin bedded rooms both with their own bathrooms.

The spacious sitting room offers fantastic views through the large french doors to the East and over the South Esk river which is 300 yards to the South of the cottage. You can access the terrace from the french windows for alfresco eating when the sun shines!!!

The kitchen is well equipped with every requirement. The cottage has full central heating and has a woodburner in the sitting room for added warmth and atmosphere.

The porch with all its shelves gives plenty of storage for all those walking boots and equipment and for dogs to dry off. The garden is fully enclosed and dog proof.
The location of the cottage means many of our guests like to bring their dogs, which we do allow, but ask you to respect our home and the wildlife around the cottage and to clear up after them in the garden.

The cottage is equipped with :- Sky TV, DVD player, CD player, electric blankets, radio alarm clocks, hairdryers, heated towel rails, woodburner, full central heating, Terrace with garden furniture, telephone, one shower, one bath with shower over, clothes washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker, fridge/freezer. dog towels and biscuits, sofabed. All linen, towels, electricity, oil and logs for the fire is included in the price.

Marchburn is only an hour from the East Coast, southwest of Aberdeen and north of Edinburgh and Dundee.

The Hotel our local! is less than a mile away from Marchburn offering good lunches and evening meals. There are also excellent pubs and restaurants in the surrounding countryside out of the glen itself and the notice board in the cottage has lots of recommendations.

The Glen offers superb varied walks to suit all abilities. Fishing is available on the South Esk for brown trout, salmon and sea trout, permits are required and can be obtained from either the Clova Hotel or the local fishing club. The hotel now has its own small fishing loch and fishing for trout is available through the hotel at approx £15.00 per day.

For the keen golfer, courses suiting all levels can be found in Kirriemuir, Forfar, Rosemount , Alyth and Blairgowrie.

At nearby Kirriemuir the RSPB Loch Kinnordy reserve will be of interest to keen bird watchers.
